Under her former name of Hydroflow she was a well performed boat in many inshore and offshore races. Upshot-formerly Hydroflow is a well known racer in NZ waters and has sailed many miles in Australian waters. Sold in 2006 to Ross Field of Volvo race fame and renamed Upshot it was converted to a canting keel system under the design of Greg Elliot with engineering done by High Modulus. The system installed utilized a similar system used in some Open 60 designs that uses block and tackle to cant the keel led to cockpit mounted hydraulic winches. The benefit of this system is that it is simple, relatively maintenance free and above all lighter than a conventional hydraulic system. This system has been in use on the boat since its re-launch in summer 2007 has never needed attention. To complement the keel a carbon swept back double spreader rig was installed by NZ Rigging.
